Here's an idea: Have a fundraiser for to benefit battered women with children at BW3 or Barley House.
I think we should have a book club once a month we could read some of the books that were suggested by the blog manger. We could even meet in the Women's Studies office to discuss the books.
Well I guess being a writer I think it would be cool to have a FEMINIST open mic night where feminist writers could come and read their work. We could try to get more involved with the English departments...undergrad and grad...and maybe even publish a feminist journal?
I like the idea of the fund raiser; however, I am not sure about the Barley House. I know that they do allot of fund raisers for campus groups but I remember there being an issue when someone wanted to put on a fund raiser/concert for Choice. The manager said something to the affect that they did not believe in it an therefore would not allow it to happen. Though all may not believe in that right I am ok with that, I am not willing to go somewhere that would not allow someone to put on a fund raiser because the manager did not believe in it. As far ass I am aware it was not a company policy!
As for the study group idea, I am all for it! I think I would be more apt for the book club if I actually had time to read something other than my homework, but I think it is a great idea! As is the open Mic night. Question is where would we try to have such a thing? Or we could even do something like a writer's group. Just an idea :)
S.I.S purpose shall be 1)to act as a resource for feminism on UA campus as well as in the community,2)to address issues and concerns relating to women and affecting women, 3) to serve as a safe community and support system for women on campus, 4) and to assist Women's Studies Program with events.
A person’s pursuit of goodness leads to greatness, but the pursuit of greatness leads to ruin. Pursue goodness and you will achieve great things. -- John E. Kramer, Vice president of communications, Institute of Justice.
What do you think S.I.S. should use to attract students on campus?
Which do You like best?
Kudos
Kudos to Mercy Trew, Angela Ryan, and Katie Timperio on their graduation. S.I.S. is happy and proud to have strong women like you.

I like the open mic night idea; depending on how many people were expected, we could have it in starbucks or the new commuters lounge.
As for the journal, maybe we could also include some artwork from the artists Katie T. mentioned!
